Cupid Is Really Getting On My Nerves!

Cupid Is Really Getting On My Nerves!

I’ve been sitting at my computer for an hour and a half waiting for divine intervention (tick, tick, tick…still waiting…). Here’s my dilemma, it’s Valentine’s Day and my thoughts are hijacking everything I write in an attempt to make it all red, rosey, and chocolatey! But my heart, which is what Valentine’s Day is supposed to be all about, wants me to write in a different direction. So, in honour of my heart that is what I am going to do.

You can’t love, be real, or be free when you live in fear.

One of my all time favourite books is a ‘little’ book called “Love is Letting Go of Fear” by Gerald Jampolsky. Now when I say ‘little’ I mean it’s truly skinny in size but huge in ideas. I admit when I first encountered this book decades ago, I didn’t get it. I wasn’t ready to get it. So as most of us do with things we don’t get, I dismissed it. Rubbish! (My apologies for my youthful ignorance.)

Years later, mysteriously, this little book flew off the shelf, I swear with angel’s wings it flew off the bookcase landing in my unexpecting hands. Blessedly, this time I read it and I got it. (Which is why you should never ever get rid of a book!)

Love and fear are mutually exclusive.

You can’t live in fear and love life. You can’t live fearfully and love yourself. Fear makes us feel vulnerable and visible, so we hold ourselves back from loving.

black-heart15When I let go of my fear I love my child enough to let them grow and go.
black-heart15When I let go of fear I watch with love as my partner pursues their dreams.
black-heart15When I stop fearing loss, I allow myself to love with abandon.

Are you beginning to get the idea?

black-heart15When I fear failure, I can’t love the breathlessness of trying something for the first time.
black-heart15If I fear success, I can’t love the exhilaration of accomplishment.
black-heart15When I fear being visible, it is impossible to love the boldness of my creativity.
black-heart15When I fear not being understood, I cannot love openly and honestly.

BE Love.Love is quiet, love is gentle, love is big and love is bold…love is all there is (to quote Lennon & McCartney, a true love of this sixties girl!). Love means letting go of fear because fear is inconsequential in the face of pure love. With love’s power we can change the world. Join us in the spirit of Valentine’s Day and embrace Love…

Here’s one great tip:

Each day for the next week let love show its power through your words and actions. Find a way, small or big, to be love. Holding back? Face the fear that is stopping you from experiencing and expressing the you that is Love. Remember, love means letting go of fear. Go ahead, be bold, be love.

Until next time…Grab Life by the Crown!

Hello from London… January 10, 2015

Hello from London!

Welcome to 2015! It’s a much anticipated year here with lots to look forward to.

As expected December was a whirlwind culminating with a fabulous visit with niece, nephew, great nieces and great nephew. Whew, that’s a mouthful! We walked, we ate, we shopped, we did tea…we walked some more. I can’t believe how much they packed into 2 weeks. The thing about London is that around every corner something is waiting to be discovered. A good time was had by all.

Christmas dinner at the pub was full of character (including the big black lab at the next table drooling over our plates!) and delicious, absolutely delicious, from the champagne to the rich dessert we groaned over but of course ate every bite!

Here is a ‘flavour’ of London at Christmas for all of you: beautiful, inspiring, and as always quirky!
