Can’t Keep Your Antlers Straight?

Antlers on straight

Can’t keep your antlers straight?…

You might just be in the Loop! That’s the B-Loop we’re talking about.  What’s the B-Loop?  Well my dears… B is for Burnout!

The holiday season is defined by stress and pressure: TV ads with sparkling lights and happy happy families, perfect dinners, happy families, mounds of presents, did we mention happy families?!!!

It’s enough to give you the chills! But you are a Burnout Queen so when the pressure hits you get going!

You vow you will..

  • dig in and push harder
  • achieve more
  • write more lists, check them twice (no make that 10 times!)
  • make double the shortbread
  • plan the perfect Holiday menu
  • craft like a crazy lady
  • buy more lights for the house (the neighbours doubled theirs!)
  • get more prezzies for the kids, musn’t disappoint
  • create the perfect decorating scheme
  • and get a reindeer for the front lawn (note to self make that a real one!)

Don’t look up you’re not doneYou…

  • need to paint the guestroom, (it’s tired)
  • order the new sofa in time for the neighbourhood party
  • find the perfect dress for the office party (not too sexy not too prim)
  • make the Christmas pageant costumes (1 angel, 2 shepherds)
  • lose the extra weight by the holidays
  • and love your in-laws by Dec 24!

Welcome to the B-Loop!  It’s a slippery slope with or without snow!

Burnout Queens think it’s normal to be in the Loop! We don’t recognise the pattern.  Well, now you can!  It looks like this…

stress >> dig in >> do more>> achieve less>> stress >>push harder

You live in the Loop with a smile on your face, you make it look easy and no one knows you are skating on thin ice!  And because you make it look so easy-peasy everyone just expects you to do it all again…and again…and again…

Next year it will be different!  We’ve heard that before, but now it can!   Stick with us Darling Burnout Queens and we will show you how to get out of the Loop and stay out!

Until next time…sparkle!   Dr Toby, The Burnout Queens xx

imagesBDUQA412

Here are some of the Top 14 ‘You’re Too’ phrases Highly Sensitive People hear!  We know they drive you crazy, but you’ve been told you’re crazy all you life anyway, right?

‘too’ emotional  –  ‘too’ shy  – ‘too’ intense  –  ‘too’ serious  –  ‘too’ moody  –  ‘too’ neurotic  –  ‘too’ idealistic  –  ‘too’ dramatic and oh yeah, let’s not forget the obvious…

You’re Just Too Sensitive!

Of course you’ve heard these all your life.  They don’t make you crazy, they just mean you are a highly sensitive person.

At the Burnout Queens we celebrate being Highly Sensitive We both are and we are NO shrinking violets!  Being an HSP means you are strong, bold, creative, quirky, and much more.  You have a character that needs to be embraced.   Find out what it really means to be highly sensitive and how it affects everything from your identity to your relationships to your career choices:  The Burnout Queens, Highly Sensitive

Soul Burnout: Being an HSP in Painful Times

Soul Burnout: Being an HSP in Painful Times

“What is this world coming to?  What has happened to humanity?  I don’t understand…”

These days we are hearing these sentiments from oh so many of our Highly Sensitive Burnout Queens.  The anger, suffering and pain in the world, the apparent lack of love, the disbelief that human beings can be indifferent to each other, and we would add the way some humans treat animals with such disregard, and let’s not forget our poor planet!  Well it makes us all very sad and weary.  Sigh…….

Maybe you are experiencing something similar, a sense of disillusionment, a loss of faith in humanity, the feeling that nothing makes sense anymore.  And you know, all that makes us feel insecure, kind of nervous, anxious and uneasy.  To say it is disappointing is a massive understatement, the international events of the last few weeks leave many of us feeling totally disheartened to say the least!

At times you may feel that there is nothing left to believe in…there is.

We see this as a kind of ‘soul burnout’.  When you are Highly Sensitive it can feel like the weight of the world, the pain of the world, resides within you.   Sometimes you just don’t know what to do with it and end up feeling powerless and, yes, definitely hopeless.  So what can you do?

Well, crowns off to those courageous and bold souls who head off into dangerous places to offer aid and care to both humans and animals in need.  My heart swells with joy and gratitude with the knowledge that such brave individuals exist!  Then there are the rest of us…

We may not be ready to take a heroic stance, but we can live with Everyday Spirituality.  Everyday Spirituality doesn’t have to be big, it doesn’t necessarily encompass grand gestures, it doesn’t even have to be called anything specific with a Capital Letter.  We believe that everyone can embace life and live each and every day with meaning and purpose.   Oh don’t get all worried about ‘finding your purpose’ (that’s way too heady for us!) all you have to remember is to…

Live your life in the pursuit of compassion, kindness, beauty, understanding and love in your own unique way

Shine your HSP light into the world.  Do not live in fear.  Always strive for your Highest Dream regardless of how futile it can sometimes feel in this shocking world.

Imagine. Create. Believe.

Love, Dr Toby & Dr Bev xx

My Spinning World – life as an HSP

Oh woe is me | Lady Fainting

Well, I for one am really feeling the stress of world events. The world for this HSP is quite literally spinning around!

Emotions over the past few days have run the gamut through shock, horror, despair, sadness, anger, fear, which all added up to stress.  I am most definitely wired to experience the symptoms of stress (and in the past burnout) physically first.  Something physical shows up to warn me: a headache, upset stomach, muscle tension, insomnia and this time vertigo!

My world was quite literally spinning for a few hours last night.  I know this was a direct result of stress, so I am paying attention and being gentle with myself today.  Us HSPs soak up a lot of stress and tension from media coverage of world events; images, sounds, commentary all hit their mark.  Remember to take care of yourself and create moments of peace and tranquillity.

Love Dr. T xx

You may also feel stress physically.  If so, what are the warning signs that ‘hit’ you first?
