The Time Struggle: a client’s story

True story

Had VIP call with client who struggles to find the right time management system that suits her. She has tried so many systems and has even hired a personal organizer to help her prioritize and sort through her paperwork, work schedule and appointment systems. She misguidedly thinks she just hasn’t found the right one for her’!

Before understanding our concept of putting yourself Front & Centre  (a positive and effective way of preventing recurring burnout), it felt like Time controlled her. She was failing to show up ‘on time’ with her own clients and biz meetings. Why?

She would see a blank space in her diary, and automatically fill it with another client appointment whether it was realistic, practical, logistically possible or not.  Her thought– that’s time and money spent serving another needy child. Working ‘in’ her profession gives her a sense of pride and success that she thrives on.

What she has never considered, nor factored into her schedule is Herself! You know travel time, energy level, the additional work another booking caused, or any contingency issues. Drained energy and poor time commitment was too often resulting in lateness or forgetfulness. No success in that.

Now with our concept of Front & Centre firmly in her mind, she is leaving those blank spaces for herself and what she needs in order to reenergize and regroup. Her clientelle is happier because she’s actually there for them on time and prepared. The bonus is she feels responsible, professional and confident in her business again.  Priceless!

She sometimes slips and books too tightly, but…she’s getting there….

Whistle while you work?

classical musicWhat better way to work creatively than having music in the background.  Makes me think with more clarity and style.

Today it’s the classics quietly and melodically in the background.  Who knows what tomorrow will bring.

How about you?  What do you listen to while pushing papers and writing notes?

You do listen to music while you work don’t you!
