I need directions to Happy

happy bowlerIf you’ve been searching for Happy for awhile now, it appears Happy is found within ourselves, rather than being a destination or a group of acquired things.

Darn! that means we might have to put some effort into getting ourselves Happy then.

If that’s the case, I know some women who would much rather go bowling than work at it.  (hint: another way of saying NO to yourself)

To narrow your search for Happy, we thought we’d give you 10 qualities of happy women.  See if you can relate.

1. believing in yourself

2. knowing your true north

3. taking personal responsibility

4. having courage

5. being altruistic

6. embracing optimism

7. being proactive

8. appreciating life

9. being wise and sharing your wisdom

10. persevering

So how did you react to the list?  Are some points true for you?  Are some currently under review?

It seems how you approach your life makes a qualitative difference in finding happiness and being happy.  And this search needs to be an inside affair.  So The Burnout Queens say reflect deeply, embrace what you have, and change what you can.

And in the meantime….bowling ladies?

Sometimes it pays to throw away the plan!

Hello from London!

Is it just us…or is time really going faster?!!!  September flew by with work being crazy busy.  The weather was brilliant here, hope you were as lucky and got to enjoy wonderful warm September days.  In fact, here is a pic of Dr B having a cuppa in the park on the very last day of September!  Who could ask for more?  Check out the beautiful background of  the formal gardens of Lauderdale House in Highgate.

Sometimes it pays to throw away the plan!  That is exactly what we did when we headed down to Brighton on the South Coast for the day.  You know us, upon arrival we headed for our favourite patisserie ‘Cocoa of Brighton’  and the lovely owner asked, “Have you been to Lewes yet?”  (said in his adorable french accent!)  Well we hadn’t so we went right back up the hill, got back onto a train and 7 minutes later we were in the most beautiful medieval city called Lewes.

We spent the day walking and wandering, up hills and down (once again apologies to our feet, bless them!) exploring winding tiny streets, quirky shops, amazing architecture, and, you know it, delicious cafes!  Then there is the Norman castle right smack in the middle of the City!  What a surprising day!

Enjoy the pics!

You know one of the things we love about living here is that every corner we turn around we can be surprised.  Check out The Burnout Queens Pinterest Board “Quirky in the City” and discover more of our crazy and delightful finds.
